These are the last images I have of Macintosh.
Please be aware that some of these photos are very depressing ...
On the drive to the vet, Mac just clung to the cage in passenger seat as close as he could be to me - it was very sweet!
I sensed that he knew that I was trying to help him - really!
Once we got to the vet we had to wait about 30 - 45 minutes before we were taken to the examination room.
Throught his time we hung out with one another & Mac was really trying to hold on ... trying to be himself & seem happy.
Once into the examination room, the vet tech gave him the initial screening but agreed that he was not doing very well at all.
When the veterinarian came in she recommedned x-rays for Macintosh.
This was really tough for me as I could hear him in the other room ...
Nonetheless I knew that I was doing the right thing for him at this time ...
The vet returned with her findings and course of action - basically an invoice of the visit ...
For a moment or two I contemplated the $ costs $ of this visit & the most amazing thing occurred at the same time . . .
Macintosh was in the travel cage at this time & was very weak.
He exited the cage on the examination table & walked over to the invoice to give the piece of paper a bite ...
I truly think that this was his way of saying "this is what we need to do"
I was in tears at this point & just gave the 'go ahead'.
She put him in a 'nebulizer' with oxygen & medication for over an hour ...
you can see a pic of this here
I asked to be able to go into the examination room to be near Mac & took the photos below ...
In order to leave the vet we had to make due for Mac in a small carboard box w/ his towels
as he did not have enough energy to get into the cage ...
When we returned to the house, I made special accomodations for him to be as comfortable as possible & he was somewhat responsive to this.
Unfortunately, Macintosh did not make it to the next morning.
This was a very sad day, but I also know from this experince that he had some serious respiratory issues & that I gave him the best year of his life!
Rest Well Macintosh! You lived a great life & I am happy that I was able to be a part of it !
