These images below are the only pictures that I have of 'Mac'
'Mac', so I was told, was short for Macintosh as "he" loved Macintosh Apples.
Nonetheless ... s/he was a Green Cheek Conure & came from a somewhat troubled past ...
According to 'his' tag he came from a Colorado breeder & was hatched in 1994.
I found Mac on CraigsList (Denver) when I was selling one of Kaleid's old cages that she did not like.
Mac was a rescue parrot on my part & was advertised on CraigsList for a while ... so I finally decided to go meet him / her.
I thought, at the time, that this may be a good addition to the 'flock' for Kaleid ... turns out that they just tolerated one another.
When visiting Mac for the first time I learned that s/he had lost his owner & was given to a family member to continue life.
This home had other parrots but Mac was frowned upon because s/he was a 'biter' & not very friendly ...
Long story short, I was told that I could have Mac with 'his' cage & play area for $75 or he was just going to be put to sleep.
What was I to do ??? I immediately acquired another parrot to add to my flock.
Macintosh was a good little parrot - very sweet & affectionate & took to his new home rather quickly.
He adjusted to his new environment & just preferred to have his space that he was familiar with. He trusted me, but was always a little timid. ________________________________________________________
One night in early July 2007, I was awoken by Mac throughout the night as he was making a fair amount of noise.
In the morning, I found that he was a bit distressed so I spent some time with him before going to work.
By the time that I left he seemed to be doing ok, not 100%, but ok.
Returning from work that evening I found Mac to be in very poor condition. He was very lathargic, feathers puffed up & just did not seem to be doing well.
I gave him his favorite fresh foods & he immediately acknowledged them, but struggled at the same time.
I decided to take him to an emergency vet about 20 miles away.
I got him ready for the trip in the small travel cage & headed in that direction.
I am continuously trying to geotag one photo in each of my travel galleries for places I have visited, etc. Once you click on the green SmugPin (above), you are taken to that image on the map. Clicking the image will then take you to the gallery where the image & other photos from that area reside.
